In last the year or so some lovely examples of blue fluorite crystals have been offered on the mineral market from this relatively new find in County Galway.
This example shows a floater cluster of cubic crystals, the largest being 2.8cm on its edge.
The crystals display a suite of interesting features including bevelled edges, internal phantoms and areas of green colour-zoning.
The crystals are a nice blue colour under white LED indoor lighting whilst in daylight display a more purple/violet colour.
They are also semitranslucent with cores of an earlier generation of dark purple octahedral fluorite crystals.
This was a very limited find so if you want to add one of these super Irish specimens to your collection….dont hang around 8)
Size – 45 x 43 x 43mm
